Area guide
Silveira Beach, Garopaba
Everything you need to know to enjoy Silveira and Garopaba during your stay at the Refúgio.
Silveira Beach
About 2 km from central Garopaba, Silveira is one of the best-preserved beaches on the Santa Catarina coast: a few houses tucked into the hills, Atlantic Forest and steep sand. Even in high season, it is not unusual to find it almost empty. It is about 6 km from Ferrugem Beach and about 18 km from Rosa Beach.
Canto Sul lookout
From the Refúgio you can easily reach the Canto Sul lookout along the road, about 150 metres away. It is the best place to see the whole of Silveira Beach.
Surfing
Strong, consistent right-hand waves make Silveira one of the best-known surf spots in Brazil. Good waves also break in the middle of the beach and at the north end, depending on the wind and the sandbanks.
The south-end lagoon
At certain times of year, a small shallow lagoon connected to the sea forms at the south end of the beach. It is perfect for cooling off and playing with the children.
Southern right whales
Garopaba is part of the Right Whale Environmental Protection Area. From July to November, southern right whales come close to the shore and can be seen from the lookouts in the area.
The lagoon and the sunset
From the top of the retreat, the view opens onto the lagoon, the wetlands and the hills. In the late afternoon, the sun sets behind the mountains and reflects on the water: our guests' favourite moment.
Getting here
Access is via Garopaba, about 1 hour 30 minutes by car from Florianópolis International Airport. The last stretch to Silveira may be on a dirt road; drive carefully on rainy days. The exact address is sent once the booking is confirmed.
