Refúgio da Silveira brings together two contemporary houses set into the hillside in Garopaba, southern Brazil. Glass doors open to the horizon, wood, brick and stone, and an outdoor bathtub on each deck facing the lagoon and the mountains.

The plan here is simple: breakfast with a view, a walk to the Silveira lookout, the beach, and late afternoon in the bathtub watching the sun set behind the hills.

The area

Silveira Beach, Garopaba.

One of the best-preserved beaches in Santa Catarina, famous for surfing and for the southern right whales that visit the coast from July to November. From the retreat, a short trail leads to the Canto Sul lookout.
